Vrbo calendar not syncing?

Vrbo is almost never actually down, and it does not even publish a status page to check. So when your calendar looks wrong, the cause is almost always your own sync quietly breaking: an import link that expired, a link that runs one direction, or an old HomeAway-era URL that no longer resolves. Is Vrbo actually down? There’s no status page to check

Vrbo publishes no official status page, so there is no light to check. The pages that rank for “is Vrbo down” are all third parties, Downdetector, IsItDownRightNow, StatusGator, plus channel managers like OwnerRez that post a notice when their own Vrbo connection drops. Every one of them can only answer whether Vrbo is broadly reachable, or whether other people are complaining. None can see whether your listing’s import last succeeded. A genuine outage is rare and short; a silently broken import on one listing can sit wrong for days.

Why your Vrbo calendar isn’t syncing

Vrbo keeps availability in step with other channels through iCal, a plain calendar feed it imports and exports. It works, but it fails in a handful of predictable ways:

• A stale or expired import link. Export URLs change when a platform updates its settings. The old link still loads but returns nothing, so the import quietly goes empty with no error.
• A one-directional link. Each iCal link carries dates one way. If the reverse import was never created or was removed, one side never updates.
• An old HomeAway-era URL. Vrbo was formerly HomeAway, and legacy export links pasted from old instructions or held by a connected tool no longer resolve.
• An import that silently stopped. A connection can flip to a disconnected or action-required state and stop pulling, with no proactive warning to you.
• A reservation that has not imported yet. Normal lag: up to 20 minutes to appear, inside the 30-minute pull cycle. Wait out that window before assuming a break.
• A format or channel-manager conflict. The imported URL must start with https://, and a PMS managing the same property can conflict with a direct iCal import and create duplicate or looping feeds.

The fix, step by step

1. Open your sync settings. In the Vrbo Owner Dashboard, select Calendar, then Settings, then the Availability tab, and under Calendar sync choose Connect calendars, then Manage imported calendars.
2. Force a fetch. Use the refresh button in the Vrbo Owner mobile app to pull now instead of waiting out the 30-minute cycle. If it looks right after that, it was just timing.
3. If it is still wrong, re-add the link. Delete the broken import, copy a fresh export URL (starting with https://) from the source channel, and add it back with Import a calendar. A regenerated or expired URL is the most common cause. Need your Vrbo export link? Here are the exact clicks.
4. Confirm both directions. Vrbo allows up to five imported calendars per property. Make sure the reverse link exists too, then compare the calendars to confirm they now agree.

Why the fix does not stay fixed

Re-linking the calendar solves today’s problem. It does nothing about the next silent break, and iCal breaks quietly by design. The only way to stay ahead of it is to keep comparing the calendars on a schedule, which is what continuous monitoring does: it re-checks every channel around the clock and messages you the minute a gap opens or a feed goes dark, in the window Vrbo shows nothing at all.
