Troubleshooting
Airbnb calendar not updating?
Listing Uptime · Updated July 22, 2026
The reassuring part first: Airbnb is almost never actually down, and when it is, it is down for everyone and back within minutes. If only your calendar looks wrong, the cause is almost always your own sync quietly breaking, not the platform. An imported calendar refreshes only every few hours, a link runs one direction, or an export URL expired without a word. This page helps you tell an outage from a broken sync, fix it, and confirm your calendars actually match.
The 60-second answer
- 1A real outage is platform-wide and rare. If other hosts are fine, the problem is your own listing’s sync, not Airbnb.
- 2Give it up to 3 hours. Airbnb refreshes imported calendars every 3 hours. Open the connected calendar and click Refresh to pull sooner.
- 3If a refresh changes nothing, the link is broken. Delete it, copy a fresh .ics export URL from the source, and re-add it, then compare the calendars to confirm they match.
Is Airbnb actually down? Almost never
Airbnb’s only official status page covers its developer API, not host calendars, and there is no consumer or host status page at all. The “is Airbnb down” trackers you find, Downdetector and the rest, are crowd-report sites: they show whether a lot of people are reporting problems, never whether your listing’s sync is correct. A green status page and a wrong calendar are not a contradiction. They are the normal case when your own import has drifted.

Why your Airbnb calendar isn’t updating
Airbnb keeps availability in step through iCal, a plain calendar feed each platform exports and imports. It works, but it fails in a handful of predictable ways:
- The 3-hour import lag. An imported calendar is polled, not live, so a block made elsewhere can take up to 3 hours to appear. Checking ten minutes later shows a calendar that is simply mid-cycle.
- A one-directional link. Each iCal link carries dates one way. If you imported another calendar into Airbnb but never exported Airbnb’s link back, the reverse direction silently never updates.
- An expired or changed export URL. Export links change when platforms update, and unused links can expire. The old link still loads but returns nothing, so the import quietly goes empty with no error.
- A snoozed or deactivated listing. Snooze pulls the listing from search and deactivation takes it offline. A host who forgot they did it reads a normal, intentional state as a broken calendar.
- A stale browser or app view. The browser can cache an old calendar, and the mobile app sometimes lags the desktop site. Reload in an incognito window to rule it out.
The fix, step by step
- Refresh first. On Airbnb, open Calendar, select the listing, click Availability, and find Connect calendars. Open the connected calendar and click Refresh to force an immediate pull. If it looks right after that, it was just the 3-hour timing.
- If a refresh does nothing, the link is dead. Remove it, then get a fresh export URL (ending in .ics) from the other platform, regenerating it there if it may have expired, and add it back. Lost? Here are the exact clicks.
- Check the reverse direction. Confirm the exact Airbnb export link you handed the other platform is still the one it holds. A stale Airbnb link on their side means that direction never updates.
- Rule out the simple stuff. Reload in an incognito window, and confirm the listing is not snoozed or deactivated. Then compare the calendars to confirm they now agree. Airbnb’s only manual control is Refresh, and if it throws a sync error the platform may have hit its request limit, so wait and retry later.

Do your calendars actually match right now?
Paste the export URL from each channel for one property. This compares them and flags every night booked on one but still open on another, the gaps that turn into double bookings. No signup, and it never touches guest details.
Why the fix does not stay fixed
Re-linking the calendar solves today’s problem. It does nothing about the next silent break, and iCal breaks quietly by design. The only way to stay ahead of it is to keep comparing the calendars on a schedule, which is what continuous monitoring does: it re-checks every channel around the clock and messages you the minute a gap opens or a feed goes dark, in the window Airbnb still shows green.
Questions hosts ask
Is Airbnb down right now?
Almost certainly not in a way that affects your calendar. Airbnb's only official status page covers its developer API, not host calendars, and it usually reads all systems operational. Crowd-report sites like Downdetector only show whether many people are reporting problems platform-wide, and neither can tell you whether your own listing's sync is currently correct, which is usually the real issue.
Why is my Airbnb calendar not updating?
Most often it is your own iCal sync, not an outage. Common causes are the built-in import delay (Airbnb refreshes imported calendars every 3 hours), a one-directional link that only syncs one way, an export URL that changed or expired so the connection silently died, a snoozed or deactivated listing, or your browser showing a cached copy.
How long does Airbnb take to sync the calendar?
Airbnb automatically updates imported calendars every 3 hours, per its Help Center. You can pull the latest availability sooner by opening the connected calendar and clicking Refresh, but there is no instant two-way sync, so a change made minutes ago may just be waiting for the next cycle. If a refresh still shows the wrong dates, the link itself is likely broken rather than just lagging.
Can a broken Airbnb sync double-book me?
Yes. If a linked calendar stops updating, Airbnb keeps a booked night showing as available and can accept a reservation that collides with one on another platform. Because these breaks are silent, with no error and no alert, the safest habit is to periodically verify that your channels actually agree.
