Is Hospitable down, or did your calendar sync quietly break?
Listing Watchdog · Updated July 4, 2026 · Hospitable formerly Smartbnb
Two very different things can throw your calendar off, and they have opposite fixes. One is a real Hospitable outage: the platform is down for everyone, it is rare, and it shows up on a status page. The other is your own sync silently breaking: one link goes stale, one channel disconnects, only your listings are affected, and nothing warns you. Telling them apart is the whole game, because you cannot fix a broken sync by waiting for an outage to pass.
Is Hospitable down right now?
Hospitable publishes a status page, and it is genuinely useful for platform incidents, but it has no idea whether your specific connection dropped.
Hospitable runs a real status page at status.hospitable.com, broken out by channel APIs (Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com, Agoda) and features like Availability Sync and Reservations Sync. It records real incidents, so it is worth a look during a genuine outage. What it has no concept of is your account: it cannot show that your Vrbo channel quietly disconnected or that a stale iCal import is still pushing phantom blocks. Those are per-host problems, invisible on a platform-wide board.

The break a status page can’t show you
Hospitable connects to Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com, and Agoda through direct APIs with built-in double-booking protection, and uses iCal for API-less platforms like Furnished Finder and Hipcamp. Reservations turn into blocks within a minute or two, the outgoing iCal feed refreshes roughly every 40 minutes, and incoming external feeds refresh on the other service's schedule, which is where the exposure sits.
When one of those connections fails, Hospitable keeps showing the last data it pulled. There is no red banner, because from the platform’s side nothing is down. The symptoms hosts actually report look like this:
- ·A channel that disconnects, after which Hospitable cannot update availability there at all
- ·Phantom blocks from an old iCal import that keeps pushing dates for a channel you now connect directly
- ·Availability mismatches between a connected channel and the master calendar
- ·A calendar block that fails to push and only surfaces in an alert email, if you catch it

Is it Hospitable, or is it your sync? Find out in 30 seconds
A status page can’t see your account, but your calendars can be compared directly. Paste the export URL from each channel for one property. This lines them up and flags every night booked on one but still open on another, the gap that becomes a double booking. No signup, and it never touches guest details.
What to do if your sync broke
In Hospitable, reconnect the dropped channel from its settings, and remove any leftover iCal import that duplicates a channel you now connect directly, since the stale feed is what keeps re-blocking dates.
Then confirm the calendars actually match rather than trusting that the reconnect worked, and plan for the next break. Re-linking fixes today; it does nothing about the next silent failure. Continuous monitoring re-checks every channel around the clock and messages you the minute a gap opens or a feed goes dark, in the window Hospitable still shows green.
Questions hosts ask
Is Hospitable down right now?
Check status.hospitable.com for a genuine platform incident. If it is all green but your calendar looks wrong, the likely cause is a per-account issue like a disconnected channel or a stale iCal import, which that page does not track.
Why is my Hospitable calendar not updating?
Usually a channel disconnected or an old iCal import is still pushing phantom blocks for a channel you now connect directly. Reconnect the channel, remove the duplicate iCal feed, and confirm the master calendar matches each channel.
Can Hospitable double-book me?
It has direct double-booking protection on connected channels, but a disconnected channel or a stale iCal import can still slip a booking through. An independent calendar comparison catches what a green status page hides.
